From Almuñécar you are within 15 minutes in the beautiful city of Nerja with 320 Sundays per year.
Once a small fishing village, now a thriving holiday resort that still keeps its charm and character intact. The old town is a succession of whitewashed houses along narrow, winding streets. Small shops sell local art, jewelery and typical local products. The old Moorish fortress has been converted into the famous Balcony of Europe with spectacular views of the coastline. Near Nerja are some beautiful white villages, like Frigiliana, and they are a must if you are on holiday in Andalusia. But Nerja's biggest highlight are the caves, Spain's third most visited tourist attraction. These caves were the home of cavemen 30,000 years ago and now has impressive stalactites to admire. The coastline of Nerja is supported by spectacular cliffs, which give picturesque beaches and small caves shelter. The beaches are virtually undiscovered by tourists. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy water skiing, diving and canoeing. |

Is a small village just behind Nerja at about 400 meters altitude. Really recommended for a visit! It is one of the best preserved Moorish towns in Andalusia and dates back to 1767. The small old town with its picturesque, lapping streets is beautiful. Time seems to have stood still here.
